Concert time!

I surprised Miss with tickets to a concert for her birthday earlier this month. We usually make it to one or two each year. This year we are on a record pace. We've been to two so far, and have a couple more still to come.

This show is a very popular one, and sells out every year. There are usually around 12 bands performing, with the first band going on at 1 pm. That makes for about a 10 hour experience!

The style of music is alternative rock, usually including both past (80's New Wave, 90's Grunge, etc.), as well as very contemporary up and coming bands, and some one hit wonders. We're pretty young at heart (we're in our late 40s), so this is right up our alley (but we love old school rock too!) This year it was mostly newer bands.

With Muse being the headliner, we were not worried at all about this being a great time. We had songs from most of the other bands that we were also looking forward to seeing live.

Leading up to the concert, I was trying to figure out if I could come up with another all girl clothes outfit like I had for a concert we went to last year. I was a bit despondent leading up to the concert date as I hadn't figured it out yet. The main struggle was figuring out what top I was going to wear. I was in my insecurity mode, worrying about how people might react to a boy in girl clothes, as I was not going en-femme.

But the morning of the show I did finally figure it out. The issue wasn't so much which top to choose that would be androgynous enough for me to feel like people wouldn't notice it was a ladies top. It was about me having the confidence to accept however people might react.

I tried on a top that I thought would work. I asked Miss what she thought and she said it was definitely a girl top and there would be no mistaking it otherwise. So I "girl'd up" and went with it!

I did not have a bra that was low enough cut in the front to work with the neckline on my top, so no bra :-( I need to do a bit more shopping obviously!

The day of show was going to be on the cool side, so I also decided to put on some thigh-high stockings to help with keeping warm, with lace socks, and ladies low heel black shoes. People sitting next to us definitely would have noticed the lace socks :-D.

I wore boot-cut ladies skinny jeans, and I brought a black ladies sweater in case it got really cold. So it did get cold, and I got cold feet about wearing the sweater. Well, maybe not cold feet, but when Miss offered up my sweater from her purse because it had gotten cold (it was not bulky), I turned it down and said something like "it's not too cold". I was hoping she'd just overrule me and tell me to wear it anyway, but she didn't. A fail on my part for sure :-(

Here is me, blurred face and all!

Every now and then I did catch people giving me a second look, especially in the lines for food and restrooms, but nobody said anything at all negative. I don't think anything super interesting happened at the show, other then it was as much fun as we hoped it would be.

Next month we are off to see Tears for Fears along with a few others. I'll have to figure out what outfit will be good for that show!

  2. It is interesting how your feelings of insecurity come up if you are going out wearing girl clothes but not completing the package with hair and make up and all. I do have to say when you are totally femmed up you really can pass for a woman. Sounds like it was a nice night and those feelings of nervousness are good for a sub!

    1. Thank you Mistress Marie for the sweet compliment and encouragement about my passing as a woman. It made me feel so good!

You are right, I do feel very insecure when I'm "a boy wearing girl clothes." Miss loves for me to feel insecure and humiliated when we are out.

I have not written much about our shopping trips lately. These are the run-of-the-mill trips for household shopping, groceries, etc.I almost always am wearing girl jeans or girl shorts, with a bra under a boy shirt of some kind.

I am hoping you won't mind this, but I'm going to do a fuller post on my blog with more about me being in "mixed-mode" when we are out doing our routine shopping.

Thank you so much for your comments - I really appreciate the interest!
