Possible shopping outfits, and new French Manicure technique.

Well there hasn't been too much excitement lately. The day-to-day demands of life are in the forefront for me right now, keeping my free time less than usual.

I've been getting in one dress up night a week, so here are a few photos. I'm trying to figure out good combo's that I can wear out in public, as a lot of my clothes are summery, or a little too racy.

I need to do a little more shopping for outfits to, well...., to go shopping in! ;-)


Floral print with Empire waist


I really like dresses with an Empire waist. With my bit of spare tire, I think they work great with that to give me the appearance that I have some kind of hips and 'figure.'  

With our typical mildly cool California "winter", I would probably need a light sweater to go with this? Going out I'd wear pantyhose instead of thigh-highs.

Pleated skirt

Here I'm wearing  a really light pink pleated skirt (I love it - it's so pretty!), with just the sweater and a lacy pink bra underneath. Nude stockings. I'd like to find some peep toe flats to go with this. Miss gave me a French Manicure which you can almost make out. 

New nail technique

And here is little old me with *not my best looking facial expression*. I have on a see-through lacy black top and pink bra. 

Miss picked up a new nail technique that she tried out on me. We bought white nail tips from Sally Beauty, and she glued them on just at the tip of my natural nails. Then she clipped them to a nice medium length. She finished me up by applying a coat of glue to the top of each nail, which I dipped in a soft white nail powder, and then covered with out-the-door top coat. The look was really great!

 Sorry that I don't have a better picture. What was really nice was they weren't too bad to get off the next morning when I had to return to boy mode. So I hope I get a lot more time in nails, especially when we go out!

    Great pix, thanks for posting - you look fabulous in all of your outfits!

    My favorite has to be the second one, and yes, you'd probably want a sweater with it. I know I would... And yes, for that bare-legged look, pantyhose seem to be a natural. I tried a pair of thigh highs, and it just felt wrong. Maybe that's cause I've worn pantyhose for so many years, and I'm partial to them. Black tights would also work...depending on how chilly it is.

    I do like the first outfit...but I'd probably want to sit down as little as possible while wearing it...it's short! (You have the legs for short skirts, though!) I've not yet found an empire waist dress that felt right. So with my full figure, I've probably got to go with something A-line or waistless.

    I have yet to find peep toe flats that fit me...size 12N is a challenge. So I'm stuck in regular flats... But that's OK...

    You should see if Miss can give you a nice, dignified American manicure (that's the same as French but with a "less-white" white. And unless your work forbids women to have painted nails, it would look dignified and appropriate for most kinds of work. I wore an American manicure to work for a couple years, before switching to full french acrylic nails. And I had no problems at all. (Of course, everybody already knew I got manicures and used nail polish.)

    When I make my trip out west, I'll have a French manicure done before I leave DC. That way if I don't have time to get them done enroute, at least they'll be feminine enough to look OK.

      I am really partial to that second outfit also. The sweater was one we picked out quite a while ago. I think nude pantyhose is the best look with that too.

      Shoes are a general challenge for us, aren't they? I've also just started looking for some low heeled boots, but have yet to find a pair that fits. I've gotten away with size 11W for heels and flats, but it looks like I need a 12 for boots. That's not a size that I've noticed where we've shopped so far, so I guess we need to widen our net (and shoe size) :-)

      I want the boots as I'd like to wear them with jeans. That's a good casual look that I'd like to have for going out and about. I'm really hoping to get some girl time in while holiday shopping this year.

      Miss is trying pink nail tips, but the American manicure style is something I'll have to try sometime.

    Stay away from the White Tights.... Nude hose always works best for garments like these.

      I picked up a pair of white and black tights recently. The black ones I am thinking I will try out with boots, but I need to figure out what top to wear.

      This will be my first time trying tights :-D

    As of tonight I have the whole nail technique down. I'm really happy how my nails turned out! I can't wait to do yours!!! Oh and your not the only one who looks good in that dress ;)
